Safety knowledge on the use of oxygen
Release time:2025-01-07
Under normal pressure, when the concentration of oxygen exceeds 40%, oxygen poisoning may occur. When inhaling 40% -60% oxygen, discomfort and mild cough may occur behind the sternum, leading to chest tightness, burning sensation behind the sternum, and difficulty breathing. Coughing may worsen, and in severe cases, pulmonary edema and even respiratory distress syndrome may occur. When the inhaled oxygen concentration is above 80%, facial muscle twitching, pale complexion, dizziness, tachycardia, and collapse occur, followed by systemic tonic convulsions, coma, respiratory failure, and death.
Long term exposure to oxygen partial pressure of 60-100kpa (equivalent to an inhaled oxygen concentration of about 40%) can cause eye damage, and in severe cases, blindness.
Transportation precautions
Oxygen cylinders must not be contaminated with grease. When transporting with steel cylinders, it is necessary to wear the safety helmet on the cylinder. Steel cylinders are generally placed flat and should have their mouths facing in the same direction, without crossing; The height shall not exceed the protective fence of the vehicle, with a maximum of five floors.
